For more than 30 years, John has been a member of the US Eventing Association (USEA) and competed in USEA events.  In addition, he has been an instructor with the Charlotte, VT Pony Club as well as a USPC Ratings Examiner.  John has competed through the advanced level in both the US and Canada.

In 1989, he was a USET Long Listed Rider with Bendeego Bay, a horse he remembers fondly.  Ten years later, he again was long listed, this time riding Beaverbrook a.k.a. BB, now happily retired at Arbrook Farm. 1997 was the year when John rode BB to the AHSA Zone 1 Preliminary Horse of the Year and John was awarded the USCTA Senior Open Preliminary Champion.
To date, John is a Team Selector for the Area 1 Young Riders and a clinician at the annual Area 1 Young Riders Camp held at GMHA in Woodstock, VT. Since its inception in 2007, he has been one of the clinicians at GMHA's Classic Training Level 3-Day.

John has a new horse, Fernhill Ballinaboola aka Billie, a six-year old Irish Sporthorse.  Billie is starting his eventing career and John plans to compete him at the Novice & Training levels in 2012.  John is available for lessons and/or clinics.
